Department
of Justice F.B.I Chicago Honors Rajinder
Singh Mago With an AwardChicago: Rajinder Singh Mago,
co-founder and past president of Punjabi
Cultural Society of Chicago and a long
time Sikh, Punjabi, Indian, Asian
American community activist in Chicago
area was honored with the Department of
Justice, Federal Bureau of Investigation
(FBI) Director’s 2004 Chicago Division
“Community Leadership Award” on November
20, 2004.

Director's Chicago office in-charge Mr.
Richard Ruminski presented the award to
Mr. Mago at Rosemont Convention Center
during the Punjabi Cultural Society of
Chicago’s “P.C.S. Night 2004,” a dinner
and dance banquet, where more than 2000
attended. The program also included an
international bhangra competition and
Punjabi singer Jazzy ‘B concert.
Mr.
Ruminski who attended the function along
with his wife to present the award cited
Rajinder Singh Mago for his
achievements, exemplary community
service, and civic responsibilities.
In a
brief speech Mr. Ruminski said that,
Rajinder Singh Mago is a member of D.O.J.
Community Leadership Liaison Group, has
also attended F.B.I.’s 2004 Citizen’s
Academy, and was called upon to provide
diversity sensitivity training to their
Chicago staff.
Mr. Mago
is also a member of the Chicago Police
Superintendent’s Multicultural Forum and
has helped with making of a police
training video on Sikhism.
Mr. Mago
was co-chair of Asian American Coalition
of Chicago in 1995 and 2003. He is also
a trustee of the Council for a
Parliament of World’s Religions, and is
a mainstream community outreach
enthusiast for the Sikh American
community of Chicago. |
