P.C.S. Seventh Annual Punjabi Youth Scholarship and Graduation Night on Sunday, June 10, 2007, 5:00 p.m.  at Vice Roy of India Banquet Hall Lombard

Chicago:  Punjabi Cultural Society of Chicago is organizing its seventh annual Punjabi youth scholarship and graduation night on Sunday, June 10, 2007, starting at 5:00 p.m., at Vice Roy of India Banquet Hall, 19 W 555 Roosevelt Road, Lombard, IL 60148. The night is to honor the class of 2007, both high school and college. The celebration will include recognition awards, key note address, delicious food, DJ music, dancing and networking.

PCS Scholarships of $1000 and $500 and the Graduation Night celebration is Sponsored by  DeVry University, Morgan Stanley, Western Union, Dr Surjit S. Patheja, Dr Robert Singh, Bibi Bhagwant Kaur Sidhu, Harinder Singh – MITS, Viceroy of India Banquets and many other community supporters.

Dr. Darsh T. Wasan, Vice President and Motorola Chair Professor of Chemical Engineering, Illinois Institute of Technology will be the Key Note speaker. He will speak on how to achieve excellence in whatever you do.

"The purpose of this program is to encourage our community youth towards higher education, to form support groups, get to know each other for future networking, and to socialize," said Bhinder Singh Pamma P.C.S. president.

“The last date to register for the  scholarships is May 20, 2007,” said Jay Singh the P.C.S. youth affairs director.

“All the eligible graduates, Rangla Punjab participants, and guests must register in advance for a dinner head count  by June 3rd, “ said Amarjit Kaur Atwal, vice president of PCS.

”P.C.S. will award $1000 and $500 scholarships to qualified High School Seniors Punjabi students. PCS seeks Sponsors for the Scholarships and the Graduation Night event to be held on June 10th,” said Parminder Singh Ghotra, PCS Inter-community director. 

Three $1000 each DeVry University tuition scholarships will also be given through PCS at this event to qualified students who already have or are planning to apply to DeVry University at Chicago, Addison or Tinley Park campus.  The president of DeVry University Chicago campus will be attending. ”This event is also to honor all the performing artists of "Rangla Punjab 2007" for their hard work, participation, and dedication to promote Punjabi culture and performing arts, “ said Balwinder Singh, PCS chairperson.

“The admission is complimentary to the Class of 2007 Graduates, and "Rangla Punjab 2007" participants, but $10 each for the family and friends of both the graduates & participants (subsidized charge to cover dinner cost),” said Baljeet Kaur Sangha, PCS treasurer.

“I think this event is an excellent community service opportunity to promote education among next generation, I urge all the community oriented corporations to support PCS Chicago projects,” said Ronny Kular, the PCS executive secretary.

This is also an opportunity for the families to give feed back and suggest improvements to PCS programs, and participate in PCS's community building endeavors.
